(1) The Global Glory of God. Jesus Christ is on a mission to reveal and receive glory in every people group on earth. Pray that God would be glorified in our team and in me, and that He would establish thriving indigenous church planting movements among the people groups to which we are being sent. [Pss. 2:8; 46:10; 72:19; Isa. 11:9; Matt. 28:18-20; Rev. 5:9-10; 7:9-10]
(2) Good News to the Poor. We will be serving orphans and widows, drug addicts and prostitutes. Pray that we would boldly proclaim the Gospel without fear or hindrance. Pray that God would save sinners and heal the hurting, so that the slain Lamb would receive the full reward for His suffering! [Ps. 146:7-8; Isa. 61:1-3; Acts 4:29-31; 28:31; 2 Cor. 5:11-21; Eph. 6:19-20; Col. 4:2-4; 1 Pet. 2:24]
(3) Team Relationships. Our squad of approximately 40 people will break into ministry groups of 5-7. I sometimes find I am too independent and need to grow as a ministry partner. Pray that I would lay down my life for my brothers and sisters and that I would use my gifts to edify them. Pray that our team would be united in the love of Christ, that we would submit to and serve one another, that the plots of the evil one would be thwarted, and that we would be effective ministers of the Gospel. [Ps. 133; John 17:20-23; Eph. 5:21; Col 3:12-14]
(4) The Fortification of my Faith. This trip will probably stretch my faith beyond its breaking point. Pray that I would grow more intimately acquainted with my Lord Jesus as I suffer with Him. Pray not simply that I would be safe, but that as I die to self and sin, many others would be saved. Pray that I would experience Romans 5:1-5, and that my faith would be profoundly deepened as I venture into the unknown. [Rom. 8:17-18; 2 Cor. 1:3-11; 4:16-18; 6:3-10; Php. 3:7-11]
(5) Cultural Understanding. Engaging with people from vastly different cultures can be daunting. Pray that we would approach the task as listeners and learners, and that our team would be given supernatural wisdom so that we can serve others and preach the good news. [1 Cor. 9:19-23]
(6) Provision of Needs. Sometimes I struggle with anxiety and sleeplessness. Pray that the Lord would give me peace and rest in His time. Pray that He would supply health, energy, protection, joy, contentment, or whatever we need to fulfill our mission. [Ps. 127:2; Prov. 3:24; Php. 4:11-13, 19; 1 Tim. 6:8; 3 John 2]
(7) Book Reflections. I am currently in the process of writing a book about the Fatherhood of God, human fatherhood, and intergenerational sin. I am wondering how the biblical principles I am learning will manifest themselves in other cultures, and I am hoping that through the World Race I will be blessed with rich experiences and illustrations. Pray that God would stock this book with wisdom and stories through the World Race. [Mal. 4:5-6]
(8) God’s Miraculous Might. I believe that God still works through healings, wonders, and miraculous gifts as the Gospel advances among the nations, and I long to see His power revealed in this way. If you are so inclined, pray that God would stretch forth His hand to heal and perform signs and wonders in Jesus’ name, and that for the sake of others I would grow in my gifts of encouragement, faith, evangelism, teaching, and prophecy. [Joel 2:28; Acts 4:30; 1 Cor. 12:8-10, 27-30; Gal. 3:5; Heb. 2:4]
(9) Preparation. Because of the strong relationships I have in the States, it may prove challenging to cut ties with family and friends and to throw my whole heart into the World Race. Pray that the Holy Spirit would powerfully prepare me this summer in order that I might be the greatest possible blessing to as many people possible. [Eccl. 9:10; Rom. 12:11; Col. 1:29]
(10) Personal Requests. Pray that I would be set free to express myself extravagantly in worship (2 Sam. 6), that I would fall in love with the people to whom I minister (1 John 4:11-12), that I would be cleansed from all my idols and sanctified from sin (Ezek. 36:25), that my blind spots would be exposed (John 9:35-41), that I would be filled with joy unspeakable in the Holy Spirit (Eph. 5:18; 1 Pet. 1:8), that through my experience on the World Race many friends in the States would be encouraged (2 Cor. 4:15), and that this trip would set the trajectory for the rest of my life and ministry.
