“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant will also be.” John 12:26
My name is Avery Harris and this blog is dedicated to my adventures and experiences I will have throughout my journey on the World Race! I can’t wait to see what He has in store and share with you all the unknowns that are thrown my way!
For those of you reading that don’t know me, here are some quick facts:
My family means the absolute WORLD to me.
I am surrounded by some AMAZING friends that have blessed me in countless ways.
I love playing my guitar and appreciate every type of music.
I’m a loud and proud Texas Aggie that appreciates a nice fish fry, homemade ice cream and fresh peaches at Grandma's farm.
If you make me laugh, you’ll be my new best friend.
I love playing any and all sports, which leads to my minor case of competitiveness.
I have a secret obsession with hip hop dancing and wish I could be in a Step Up movie, even though I haven’t taken a day of dance in my life.
I love traveling, in case you didn’t already assume that.
I really enjoy baking and eating anything that contains sugar.
Friends is my go to show.
And most importantly, God is the light of my life.
Why go on the World Race?
I want to make use of my life. I don't ever want to reflect on my life and feel like I just lived life simply to live. We are on this earth for God and I believe that when we are presented with opportunities and resources, we need to utilize them to our upmost potential for the Glory of our Savior. So when my mom brought The World Race to my attention, I really felt that the Lord was calling me to go on some form of missions after graduation. After much prayer and confirmation from the Lord I applied, eventually leading to my acceptance! I have learned that when God makes it clear on what we are to do with our lives, the best thing to do is to dive in head first without hesitation and patiently await for His will to unfold before our eyes.
“'For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen.’” Jeremiah 29:11-12
