For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things. Psalm 107:9
The Lord is many things, our healer, our king, our protector, but today I want to focus on His role as our great provider.
This month my team is not partnering with one specific ministry as we typically do. We are the Unsung Heroes team for the month. This means that for the entire month our job is to search all of Bulgaria for ministry contacts that want their ministry to get more known through social media and possibly want World Race teams to serve alongside them in the future. We did a day of unsung last month that I did a quick blog post on.
With having no direction this month, my team and I can’t help but look to our God as our provider with every step of the way. This became immediately apparent after stepping off the bus into Sofia, Bulgaria. We discovered that the hostel my team booked for the first week had been shut down for over a year! God immediately stepped in and provided a solution a through a lady who directed us to another hostel that transferred our deposit giving us an eight-person room. Not only was this an immediate resolution to our problem, but we realized how blessed we were to even find a room since the Deaflympics are going on in Sofia right now and everywhere is booked.
So going with this theme I thought I would share the coolest way God has provided for us since we have been here. Yesterday we spent the first half of our day emailing as many ministries we could find, in hopes that we will receive responses soon. We decided that for the second half of our day we would do an ATL (Ask The Lord) and see where God would take us.
Before we headed out for our ATL, our team sat in our room praying for Christ to speak to us and tell us what we needed to hear from Him. We received many encouraging words like He is our Cornerstone, He will guide our steps, etc. Maggie had the song, “Where you Go I Go” laid on her heart, so we listened to it as a team before leaving. If you haven’t heard this song, you should definitely take some time and listen to this
While we were dwelling in the presence of God, I received two images that I didn’t think much of. It was a spring and a metal slide. I tried reading into the spring, thinking maybe the Lord was saying to walk down the stairs or that we were spiraling down, etc. I then felt God saying not to try and figure it out, but instead let Him bring the answer to me.
We then headed out into the city and decided to go the cathedral, knowing that people go there in desperation in hopes that we would find people to pray for. We prayed for a woman on the steps, we prayed over the candles representing the prayer requests, and over the cathedral. Casey then saw a girl with a USA shirt on with another woman and approached them to see what their story was.
We came to find out that they had family in the swim relay for the Deaflympics and they had gone to the cathedral to pray for their event that night. We were able to pray for them and told them that we would love to go cheer them on. We continued walking around the city and praying for people while heading in the direction of the center where the Deaflympics were occurring. On our way to the center, we came across a playground that Casey asked us to stop and play in. As we approached the playground I saw a sole spring in the ground and to the left of it was a metal slide! I immediately was in complete awe and knew that God had provided those images for me to confirm that the way we went about our day was exactly as He had intended for it to be.

God did not owe us anything, but He provided this confirmation as a way to say to us “well done my good and faithful servants” Matthew 25:21 It’s easy for us as humans to question if our motives are driven by our flesh or God’s desires, especially when we are excited about our endeavors ahead.
This is a great reminder that when we start our day devoted to God asking for our flesh to leave and His spirit to enter, we do not need to allow the enemy to try to steal our joy with what God gives us. When we ask God for His will to be done, our spirits will jump for joy with what He provides for us that day. So take every day with faith and knowledge that Christ will lead your every step and provide opportunities that will exceed your highest expectations if you simply trust Him as your sole provider!
