“…I who am humble when face to face with You, but bold toward You when I am away!” 2 Corinthians 10:1
I entered Training Camp with hesitance and left with confidence. When I initially headed to Training Camp, I was unsure if I was going to connect with anyone. Now looking back at this I laugh, referring to a friend’s description of me being “so friendly, you could be friends with a tree”. Within minutes after arriving at the airport, I connected with my squad and began to develop long lasting relationships.
In this reflection of training camp, I could write about the physically and emotionally challenging situations that were thrown our way, but God has laid something else on my heart for you today.
There was power at Training Camp! When I talk about power, I mean power that can only come from the Holy Spirit. When I talk about power, I mean power that delivers people from strongholds, speaks life into those who were dead, power that overwhelms your body and soul. Do you know this kind of power? Are you right on track with me or are you beginning to think I sound a little crazy? I pray you can relate to what I am talking about, because ever since I experienced this power I can’t help but want more.
On the third night of Training Camp, I experienced this power. Within, minutes I was overwhelmed by the weight of the Holy Spirit and prophetic words were spoken over me. I had heard stories where people were told exactly what they needed to hear, but that is no longer just a story to me.
A woman came to me and told me that the Lord was telling me to utilize my spiritual gifts. That I was going to lead my team throughout the countries, using discernment, knowing what to avoid and what to conquer. She told me He saw me as a tall warrior who intercedes with prayer, making the devil and demons quake with the power of the Lord. She said that I am blessed with many gifts and I need to stop doubting them and start using them for the glory of God.
While she was speaking over me, I was overwhelmed with tears, feeling the presence of the Lord and knowing this was exactly what I needed to hear. I have found that in today’s society, it is hard to casually talk about our spiritual gifts without someone getting freaked out or being doubtful, myself included. Have you ever been there? You know that our God is powerful and can do miracles, but if power starts in or around you, you find yourself questioning if what is occurring is truly our God or simply a figment of the imagination.
I can tell you after my experience, I am ready to doubt no longer. I am ready to take a leap of faith and utilize the gifts God has blessed me with. No longer will we wait to be in a “different” setting for the Lord to be able to work radically in our lives.
I’ll leave you with this. My mom has always told me a friend of hers said, “I’d rather get to heaven and God say, ‘Oh honey, you just believed in me a little too much’ than to be greeted with God saying, ‘Why didn’t you have more faith in me?’” It’s now your turn to choose, are you going to be one of abundant faith or little faith? Let us continue to be humble with the Lord, but let us also be BOLD in the world.
