I am a World Racer!

It all hit me right as I sat down on the United Airline 9 hour flight from Houston, TX to Santiago, Chile. In that moment I realized it would be a long time until I would set foot on American soil again. I started grieving my old, normal, routine life and started wishing I could go home. A moment later my new friend Marissa sat down next to me and cracked a joke which made everything a little better. She is so weird and hilarious, she reminds me of my group of friends back home; weird, random, crazy, loud, always quoting things, basically just a great sense of humor. I feel like we’ve been friends for years but in reality it’s only been about 2 weeks between training camp and launch. This friendship is just one of many gifts God has given me so far on the World Race. These gifts are small, yet they bring me so much joy and comfort as I step into this new season of life.

I ended up sleeping the whole plane ride between dinner to breakfast on our flight. I was well rested, and before I knew it we were landing in Santiago. Our ministry host met us at the gate of the airport and we were off on a quick drive to our home for the month. Right as we stepped outside the airport there was a crisp cool breeze with sunshine beating down on us and it felt like I was in Oregon. It was perfect, especially after spending just 3 days in Georgia. I do not like humidity thats for sure! On the way we soaked in all of the beautiful sights of Santiago. The mountains and terrain are breathtaking! On the way I got a glimpse of four weenie dogs with hoodies on walking with their owner down the street and immediately thought of my best friend Marge and how much she would love it. We enjoyed an amazing meal of empanadas with our hosts and some of their friends all provided by them, and during the meal an adorable long haired brown tabby cat started nudging us for some attention. I spent quality time taking pictures and scratching her ear. Her name is Mimi and she has been hanging around the compound as we prepare it to be a church. There are also two adorable dogs that sneak through the fence that love to play and cuddle. These small but significant things are gifts from God. He knows the way to my heart, he knows what brings me joy. It is so beautiful here I could just look around all day and never get bored. Our ministry hosts are planting a church and this Sunday is their first service! We will be passing out flyers and making the meeting room look nice by re-painting, fixing light fixtures, flooring, cleaning, gardening, and special projects. We are also living here at the property this month. I will be posting some videos and photos on my Facebook so make sure to check those out! Thanks for reading!

Bienvenido a Chile!
