Hello, all!
I’m sorry for not updating sooner, but the last few weeks in Zambia were honestly a blur. The whole month I felt unwell, however the last 2 weeks hit me hard. I stayed constantly nauseous and sick. After 3 doctor’s visits, 3 different and very much unrelated diagnoses, and a few medicines, I am now feeling 110% better! Praise Jesus!
A brief recap of Zambia:
Zambia has been the hardest month so far for me. Between the heat (between 102-106 degrees every day) and being sick away from home, it was really hard for me to find the joy in the journey. Sure, we had great hosts and good ministry, but overall, for me it was just hard. We did a lot of community outreach, kid’s ministry, and just spending time with our hosts and pouring into them.
The biggest thing I learned from the Lord this month is how to be a Mary instead of a Martha. (Luke 10;38-42). In this passage, you see that when Jesus came to their home, Mary immediately went and just sat at the feet of Jesus. However, Martha, stayed distracted and worked constantly to get things prepared for the Lord. Not that being like Martha is wrong, but she wasn’t focused on the main thing the Lord wanted her to do, which was just rest in His presence. For me this month, I found myself trying to check off boxes in my quiet time (praying for a certain time, read so many chapters of scripture, just to mark them off, etc.), but the Lord gave me grace and reminded me that He just wants me to sit with Him and rest. What a beautiful reminder and thing that He just wants time with us, with no agenda.
We left Zambia on Friday and are now safe in Malawi! Our whole squad had a mini debrief in the bush of Malawi for a few days, where we got to rest and hang out with each other. It was a time of reflection on Zambia, and getting ready for our time here in Malawi. My team, Overflow, made it to our ministry site yesterday afternoon. We are partnered with Youth For Christ (again! We loved it so much in Zimbabwe!) in Lilongwe, Malawi this month. Our team is super excited and expectant for what Is to come this month. 🙂
I will have another blog in the next week or so explaining what our ministry will look like here! Thank you all for your continued support and prayers!
Much love,
Autum 🙂
