I love truth! I love when the Lord opens up my eyes to see truth! Although I cannot comprehend one word of truth on my own, He is faithful as He gives me knowledge of the truth in abundance! Here’s some good news that He has made known to me: God is terrifying. He is so incredibly perfect, so holy, so powerful, that sin cannot survive in His presence. We, as sinners, cannot come into God’s presence. We are utterly helpless without the grace of God, for apart from Christ we can do nothing. We can’t even breathe! Every good thing, whether material or spiritual is a gift of grace.
I believe that the Son of God, who was God, descended onto the earth, leaving the presence of God, and took on the form of a man. His ministry was to reconcile broken and sinful man to God, that we might once again dwell with Him. The great and powerful son of God chose to leave the presence of His Father, come down to earth, and die because of how much He loves us! In the days of His flesh, Jesus was tempted in every way that we are, He experienced the pain that we are so familiar with, yet there was no sin in Him. He surrendered Himself, giving up His life a sacrifice for all people. God died in pursuit of us. But our God is not in subjection to death, as Jesus said after He was raised from the dead, “I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades” (Revelation 1:18). Through this grace, we have access to God with confidence; sinful man can boldly approach the holy God through the blood of the spotless Lamb! There are no words that can adequately describe how wonderful that is!Jesus didn’t come to restore the self-righteous and arrogant. He came and lifted up the lowly in Spirit, as Psalm 51 says, “a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise”. This grace defies the religious practices that we see in the world. It is those who stop working that receive such grace (Romans 3:5, Ephesians 2:8-9, Philippians 2:13).
As new creations, His saints are blessed with a desire to glorify their Father, loving others with the same selfless love that Christ displayed for us on the cross, even while we were sinners, enemies of God, and children of wrath. Now, we love everyone with the power given to us by the Spirit. We don’t seek glory from man, nor treasure from this world. Instead, we lay down our lives, patiently waiting with a steadfast and living hope. We live in this world, longing for home, longing for our Savior’s kingdom to come, that we may walk in freedom from the flesh, seeing our God as He is, bowing down before Him with the rest of creation, to the glory of the Father, Son, and the Spirit. PRAISE GOD!
