‘ The World Race is a Christian mission trip that travels to 11 countries in 11 months. Participants live out of a backpack, survive on a limited budget, and find themselves in situations where faith is the only reality to choose from. In partnering with existing missionaries and ministries, World Racers develop relationships with the “least of these”, and through acts of service see communities and nations transformed all over the world.
So that is the official description of the world race, but here are a few more details about the world race.
– I will be paired up with about 5-6 other people between the ages of 21-35 and they wil be my Team for the duration of the 11 months(subject to team changes if need be).
– World Racers launch in Squads. A squad is made up of about 5-7 Teams.
– My Squad will launch in January of 2012
– We will be living out of Large Hiking packs for the duration of the 11 months
– Each month we do whatever needs done in the area, the most important thing being just pouring the love of christ into the area that we are ministering.
– We will do anything and everything needed in the area we are at: Prayer walks, bar to bar evangelism, building buildings, palying with orphans, giving testimonies, leading worship, leading bible studies, handing out bibles etc…
– Showers can be anything from hot water coming out of a showerhead, to 15 cups of water you take with you to the outhouse
– Bathrooms are usually just holes in the ground(Squatty Potties). If you’re lucky there might be a hose nearby to clean up with. Toilet paper is a luxury in the majority of places we will go.
– Bugs become part of the world race diet(whether you want them to be or not) along with lots of rice and beans.
– You never go ANYWHERE alone….not even if it’s to go to the bathroom at 2am.
– It is a given that you should expect the unexpected. Always be flexible.
