So…I'm in Malaysia.

What the heck. Right?

To be specific I am on the Island of Penang, which I thought would be an incredible paradise due to the fact that it is a tourist destination. The only problem is I'm smack dab in the middle of Georgetown: a concrete jungle. Still, in the midst of that concrete jungle is the place I'm being housed which has both electricity AND air conditioning AND hot showers…SCORE! From what I've heard, it's a racers paradise! So, I can't complain.

Anyways, my first day on the world race was an incredible day of rest. After traveling for 30 hours strait, our contacts sent us strait to bed and gave us the opportunity to explore the city the following day. We were pumped. Here is a picture blog of what that looked like. Enjoy.

Woke up at 9am (8pm ctstd). Thats Graham. He learned to read in the 1st grade. He's also are team leader. You are catching an unheard of glimpse inside the dudes room.

Later, our squad leader, Justin, who has a fro and who has been here on his own race, led us down the block to Kapitans. Island famous!

This is my meal after I CRUSHED it into submission so I could eat it. Then, I realized I was documenting my every move for a picture blog, and that a picture should have been taken before crushing activities. Rofl.

We randomly decided to go for a walk around Penang. This is a neat Buddhist temple representing the 2 hour adventure. There are a lot of these here. There are also many Christian churches and Islamic Mosques. From our rooftop view, you can see 2 Mosques, 5 Buddhist Temples, and 2 Christian Churches. The island is a melting pot of culture and beliefs. Also, alot of people speak english here.

We fell into a tour at a chocolate factory. Free samples.

This is the sea wall. Boom.

Lunch. With the team. You can't see them…but they're there.

OH…there they are! Minus Graham…camera duty.

Then, we went to the mall. That's right…mall. What's up World race! The Island of Penang is actually pretty modern, yet because it is some kind of international historical site, a lot of the buildings on the island are old and run down. We bought groceries at this cool super market. No Dr. Pepper. The fast continues.

Graham did this afterwards.

Later, we worshiped Jesus from the rooftop at our lodging! I realized after I should have videoed it…this is pretty much what it looked like. It was nuts…

Finally, I ended the day with some Malaysian style ramen noodles on the rooftop of our housing with my teammate Sharon! She's awesome. She also has many nicknames. Then I read something from the Psalms and passed out. I woke up to an epic sunset…

Welp. That does it. A week in now and already Gods at work in me and through me. If you aren't in a strong community of believers…GET THERE!! God does work in you. One week in and I'm already more AWARE of myself. Both The false in me that I'm killing, and the true in me that God longs to see brought out. You NEED the body. It's for your joy.

I'm off my soap box. I LOVE this life. I miss home. My team is awesome. God is making me new. Stay tuned for my next blog…I'll let you know the actual ministry I'm doing and kinda sum up the month!
