As of today I am officially 21% funded, praise Jesus! The first thing I want to say is THANK YOU to everyone that has supported me so far! I have already felt so encouraged by the love and support from all of y’all! I wanted to give a quick rundown of new and current fundraisers I have going on!
T-SHIRTS
I have been working with an organization called Fund the Nations to design a t-shirt. Half of the money for every shirt I sell will go towards my funding, and the other half will go to their program. The first deadline to order a shirt is April 19 (that’s soon, yikes)! The quote I chose to put on my shirt is from Bob Goff, and I find it very inspiring. God calls us to love everyone. He doesn’t just describe love as a feeling, but as a verb. This idea has been a huge motivation for me to go on this journey. If you live close to me we can make a plan to meet once the shirts are delivered, or you can request the shirt be shipped for an extra $3. You can also order a shirt for me to bring to India, which is the first country I will be in! I will give these donated shirts to the people I meet while I am there. ADOPT A DAY
The expenses for one day on the World Race will cost right around $50. In this fund raiser you can “adopt” one day of my mission trip by just paying $50 (or 2 days for $100, one week for $350, etc). Knowing that you made that specific day possible for me will mean so much! I will create a photo/video/written summary for what your money helped accomplish that specific day, and send it to you via email. I hope that on this day you can keep me in your prayers as well. This will be an awesome way for us to personally keep in touch while I am gone. You can make the donation on my blog (hit the “Support Me” link on the left), then just send me the day that you would like to fund. I’ll make sure to mark it down in my calendar I’m taking with me!
BRACELETS
I have partnered with Threads of Hope to sell bracelets. Threads of Hope helps Filipino men, women, and children living in impoverished areas make an income by making and selling bracelets. If you purchase a bracelet I will receive half of the money for my mission trip, and the other half will go back to the communities in the Philippines. If you would like to purchase a bracelet please send me a message!
EQUIPMENT
This is nice for those that enjoy online shopping! I have already collected most of the large purchases I will need for my trip, but there’s still several things I will need to get. After tons of research and reading past World Race packing lists, I have created a “wish list” at REI of the items I still need. I don’t really know how to pack for a year’s worth of traveling, so if you have any advice about gear I would LOVE to hear it! GARAGE SALE
Since my last garage sale was so successful, I will be having another one this summer. I have not set a date for this yet! If you have an items (big or small) that you don’t need anymore I would be happy to take them off of your hands! This garage sale will be held in Wimberley, and I will post about what items will be for sale as the date gets closer. UPDATE! I will be having the second garage sale late July!
