Harry Potter fact of the day: There are 700 quidditch fouls, all of which were committed in the 1473 Quidditch World Cup Final.
Now that you are caught up on your HP trivia let’s get down to business.
The quote I’m going to talk about today comes from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and goes like this:
“It is our choices Harry that show us who we truly are far more than our abilities.” –Albus Dumbledore
In the book Dumbledore is assuring Harry that even if he and Voldemort (because fear of a name only increases fear of the name itself) share some qualities; their actions are very different. While Voldy chooses to create havoc and chaos, Harry fights for what is right and what is good.
In my life and even on the Race I can see the power of this quote in my life. So often I have abilities that I know I can use, yet I choose not to.
Looking back on the last 9 months Cambodia is probably one of my biggest regrets. In Thailand God showed me some of the gifts he had given me, and was asking me to walk in. However I was scared and chose not to walk in them.
I had the ability to walk them out, but I made a choice not to. Those choices shaped my month in Cambodia, and have left me feeling remorse about my time spent there.
I’ve learned over the last 9 months that I have the capability to do just about anything. I can live in situations that go far beyond what is uncomfortable. I can speak words that come straight from the Lord, to individuals and groups of people. I can teach an English lesson or Bible story with 10 minutes notice. I can preach with 2 minutes notice and even sing in front of people.
I have the ability to do all these things. I am capable.
Yet I still have a choice to make, and the choice to say yes to those things is what makes my life the adventure that it has turned into.
5 more days of Harry Potter! Yay!
Love you all!
Audrey
