One of the major things I have learned while being on the Race is how important family is. I already knew before I left that God has blessed me immensely when He decided to give me the family I have. But seeing fathers with their kids and meeting kids who don’t have families or are not close to them has made me appreciate what I have been blessed with even more.

I have been told countless times by some of my squad mates how much they love the relationship I have with my parents. The fact that I actually tell them things, and (gasp!), I’m even letting them read my journals that I send home from the Race, makes people think there is something different about our relationship. I don’t know why my parents and I have this relationship. I don’t know when, where or how we became friends, but I do know that they are my best friends.

Daddy,

I hope your day is beyond blessed. I love you more than this little blog could ever express. Know that I am thinking of you and loving you from Eastern Europe. I miss you.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!
