Hello from San Jose, Costa Rica!

My team and have been having a different experience this month. Instead of having an established contact to stay with all month, we are having our “unsung heroes” month. Basically we are traveling around the country looking for new contacts for the World Race to work with. We are focusing on listening to God’s voice & building relationships with new ministries.

One of the first churches we visited asked us to work with them for a day to help them finish pouring cement. It turned out that only the boys were needed for that task, so we girls helped sweep/mop the sanctuary using brooms, a water hose and soap. It was quite the experience for sure!

We also helped prepare lunch and made homemade tortillas. Do you know how complicated it is to make tortillas? Tortillas consists of 2 ingredients, corn meal and water. They were fun to make.

After working all day at the church, one of the families invited us to their home. They live in a tree-house with a waterfall in the backyard. It was beautiful! We played a couple of games of pool and visited with the family.

Last week we had the opportunity to go white water rafting. It was a much needed tension relief and great fun too. During the trip, we saw various types of wildlife including iguanas and a toucan.

After our rafting expedition, we traveled to Port Viejo a small town on the Caribbean coast. The town is a tourist town and at first we had a hard time finding contacts. About the time we gave up finding any, God gave us 2 potential leads. It was a good trip.

Now, we are back in San Jose for a day or two. So far this month has been challenging. My team is learning to communicate, to listen to God, and to give each other grace. I’m excited to see how we’re going to continue to grow in the next month.

It’s going to be good. 🙂
