Tonight is our last night at Beacon of Hope Africa. BOHA is a wonderful ministry and I am going to miss Angie, Cathy and the rest of BOHA. It has been a whirlwind of a month and it is hard to believe that my squad and I will be shortly starting month 11. Where did the time go?

Ministry this month was divided into morning and afternoon ministry. Classes with the Hope House boys were taught every morning, then in the afternoon we had work projects. There are currently seven boys attending BOHA, ranging from ages thirteen to nineteen. Six of these boys are first year students and their comprehension on English is minimal at best. Yet these boys are all so eager to learn.

One of my favorite classes to teach was First Aid class. We learned how to treat various injuries and then practiced on one another. I am not sure whether the boys enjoyed helping the “choking victims” with back blows or splinting each others “broken” arms more. Either way, they had fun.

BOHA is also home to several animals. Ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs and most recently goats all reside here. The goal of having animals is to help the boys learn responsibility and to teach them basic animal care. In addition, when the animals reproduce, the offspring can be sold to help fund the ministry. Ray and Kyle took the time to build a duck tractor for the ministry’s ducks. The Hope House boys take such good care of the animals and were so excited when we showed them how the duck tractor worked.

Thank you Angie and family for hosting us for the month. It has been wonderful and you all will be missed greatly.

Ok, one last picture from the Kids Carnival earlier in the month. Clay and I wore disguises, erhh, I mean costumes for the kids. The kids thought it was great. (Thanks Carly for snapping this shot)

Tomorrow my team heads to Johannesburg, South Africa for a night, and then we will travel down to Cape Town where my team will be working with a sports ministry. I have heard tell that it is cold there. Who would have thought that Africa would be cold?
