Six days.

That’s how long my team stayed at our original ministry site for this month. Six short days but it seems like we were there for a month. So much happened and the women and children living there left huge impressions upon us. I am so thankful for the time we were able to spend with them.

On Friday, we were removed due to safety concerns and are now staying at a hostel in Phnom Penh. Instead of serving with another ministry for the remainder of the month, my team decided to be the Unsung Heroes team. Basically we are visiting different ministries and organizations to catch a glimpse of their vision and work and to see about the possibility of the world race partnering with them in the future.

This wasn’t what we expected coming into the month. It’s not what we wanted. I don’t think anyone would like to be removed from their ministry site. But it’s what God planned. It didn’t catch Him by surprise. He knew the circumstances that we would be placed in. His plan is so much greater then mine.

He has been confirming that Unsung Heroes is what we should be doing. He’s showered us with contacts. Starting out we had no contacts, now we have twenty possible leads here in Phnom Penh alone. On our first outing as the Unsung team, we visited a coffee shop that is part of an organization (Daughters of Cambodia) that employs women that have escaped from the sex industry. Unbeknownst to us, the founder and CEO of the organization just happened to be sitting at the table next to us. When we informed the wait staff of what we were doing here in Cambodia, they mentioned it to the founder. She was delighted to talk with us and gave us a host of leads. It was such a blessing to us.

We are excited for this opportunity and so grateful that God entrusted us with it.

Now I am going to leave you with a song that I’ve been listening to. It’s called Mercy Tree by Lacey Strurm and is an excellent reminder that Love has already won.

Death has died. Love has won!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Jesus Christ has overcome.
He has risen from the dead.
