Is prophecy real? Does God have divine plans? Does God speak today?
Well, if you asked Mark, he’d say yes!
Mark was a man in the Czech Republic who attended Teen Challenge. Mark was a former drug addict and alcoholic who committed his life to God and started at Teen Challenge to get his life together. During tihs time God established Mark, cleaning up his life and getting him to a place where he could move on from the program. Two weeks before mark graduated from Teen Challenge my team and i arrived for the months ministry.
For one of the first church services my team was approached to share about The World Race and a couple of personal testimonies. As a team we gatherered together and prayed about who should share and speak on behalf of the team. I was certain that it was not me and Lucas and Christy were chosen to do so.
We went to service as planned, had worship and then prayer. Lucas and Christy started sharing about The World Race and where we had been so far. Christy invited people to go forward if they wanted prayer for healing or general prayer.
A little boy about six or eight shot up to the front of the room desperate for prayer. I had never seen so much faith. We found out that he wanted prayer for epilepsy and he had full faith for that healing. We are waiting on a full report of his healing!
Two other men also asked for prayer and we did so without any hesitation. The men sat down but I could not go back to my seat until I said what the Lord had put on my heart. One of the men that had gone up for prayer was Mark.
At this point I knew nothing about Mark besides that he attended Teen Challenge and that he was from the Czech Republic. Good thing that the Lord know’s His children. God had me speak to Mark about his future of leadership and about God choosing him to help others recieve healing and freedom from which God had brought him out of. There was more but I honestly do not remember any of it.
Disclaimer: Please know my heart in this. I am not some divine person who alway hears directly from the Lord or that I always speak when He tells me to. However, this is an example of how the Lord opperates. All glory to Him!
By the end of the month I had forgotten all about that first service when had prayed for people. The very last night in the Czech Republic, Teen Challenge threw our team a good-bye party/Q&A time with the Americans. It was a bitter sweet night, as many good-byes are, filled with telling stories of out time in the Czech, a jam session with the boyz, and final see ya’s.
Mark came up to me with Veronica, one of our translators of the month, and said “I have a prophecy for you.” Through many questions and through the misunderstanding we figured out that Mark was trying to talk to me about that first service, about what I had spoke to him. Mark went on saying that about a month before my team arrived he was praying for some answers. He was seeking the Lord to find out direction, what the next step of his life would be as he was graduating from Teen Challenge. No direct answer was given to him for a long time. Then an answer did come to him. Mark got three countries: 1. Haiti, 2. Dominican Republic, 3. America. He then stated that he did not understand why he got these countries but decided to wait and be patient. Mark continued to say, in amazement, “You went to Haiti, then the Dominican Republic, and you are from America. What you spoke to me was a direct answer from God and has helped me to move forward as I have graduated the program.”
Again, know my heart in that I’m not telling this story for any other purpose than to glorify God. Prophecy is real, God has things that He wants to speak to His people all the time. God will even bring someone in from another country just to speak to you about the plans that he has for you. He loves you that much!
So it is up to you, is prophecy real? Does God have divine plans? Does God speak today?
Well, He says yes!
