Same country new ministry!
Our 6 teams were split at two ministries this month in Haiti. This past week I traveled to the second ministry to be with my other teams.
Supply and Multiply has a pink guest house for missionaries in a small coastal town. Their vision is evangelism and outreach through elderly ministry and kids bible studies. The group participates in the church choir with regular weekly choir practice. I was informed that they have yet to actually sing during a church service because they are not good enough.
Home visits with translators in local communities is a common ministry. The translators will ask if we can come talk to someone at their home and in small groups we sit with the home owner and share encouraging words and prayer. Many wives have husbands abroad working and sending money back home. Chronic headaches and other ailments plague many Haitians. Food and clean water are harder to come by. I learned yesterday that many people are Christians but have yet to be baptized, symbolizing here in Haiti that they are basically living one foot in the world and one in following Jesus and they are not ready to commit their life fully. We had the chance to explain what baptism symbolizes and the importance of it.
We have one more week here in Haiti. Last night on Halloween we stayed up all night in prayer over the country. There is a lot of spiritual warfare here from voodoo and witchcraft practices. It was a wild experience to be able to intercede in such a way on such a night.
