This is my friend Tsalo. At least that’s how I think you spell it. (Or Yang) I met him last week. My two friends and I were walking down a street and he waved us down. He came up and asked us if we would come by his work and talk to him some time about the Bible.

We met up with him and his friend came. Usually we start with small talk and hear back stories, but Tsalo starts right in with, “Let’s get to the meat of it.”

He meant, let’s get to the word. The meat. The thing that will satisfy your hunger for something more than what the world has to offer you. The thing that will give you the nourishment you need to live.

It felt more like a drilling with his friend asking us question after question about what we believe in and why. He soon relaxed and said that they had to be careful because a lot of Christians are not preaching the Gospel and are sharing false doctrines. The greatest thing about the Gospel is LOVE. More specifically the love of Christ and the grace we live under because he died for us. No longer a slave to sin. Walking in freedom of choice and relationship with Christ.

It’s crazy to meet brothers in Christ so far from home and us, the “missionaries”, are the ones being questioned about our faith. It lead to good conversation, encouragement and friendship.

Something that still sticks in my mind that he said was, “There is no try. Just do. Be like Nike and just ‘Do it.’” He explains, when you “try” you already set yourself up to introduce defeat. When you go in to “do” you’re believing it’s already going to happen.

I thank God for his friendship and light. At 38 years old he has dreams and ambitions so big that will only happen if God shows up. And He will. He has the type of faith that could move mountains.
