A day in the life of ministry in Vidin, Bulgaria!
Made by my amazing teammate Victoria Kuhlman. Check out her blog by clicking on her photo to the left of the screen <<<< She’s great.
In the video you’ll see us leaving our apartment at 8:30 a.m. to get to Ivan’s house. He has been wheel-chair bound since 17 after developing a crippling disease leaving him with limited use of just his arms. He became a Christian 3 months ago and we visit him every morning to have a bible study, worship, go for walks and we’ve even had a few convicting conversations that have helped him grow closer to the Lord. His mom, Baba Medenke, in the video is blind after suffering from a stroke, and also has Diabetes. She rarely moves around much and hasn’t left the house to go anywhere in over 2 years. My teammate Jess sits next to her every morning and they’ve grown very fond of one another
We visit the market to pick up fresh fruit and vegetables for meals. Cherries have been in season costing roughly $2.50 USD (or 4 Levs) for 1 kilogram.
We have the privilege of living in an apartment this month, which is not often the case! Just enjoying it while we can. : )
We walk most places for ministry often. You’ll see us walking to the gypsy village where we’ve been able to visit three times to play games with the kids, sing songs and share a bit of the Gospel. The Gypsy community is judged for being poor, uneducated, aggressive, and thieves. We had the chance to show Christ’s love to the kids and that there is a God that loves them for who He created them to be. And they loved the Hokey Pokey.
The second is a video of my friend Sarah who is the pastor’s daughter. She went to the English speaking High School in Vidin and now speaks fluent English after much practice. However she is very gifted in learning languages fast and will soon be traveling to the US to get a degree in Biblical Studies. She hopes to be a long-term missionary when she’s done! She’s great and agreed to say a few things in Bulgarian for me. Enjoy!
