A few days ago, just after settling into our new ministry site here in Lezhë, Albania, our squad leaders announced that we are needed in Greece.

We have been called to Lesbos, a small island near Turkey, to support Euro Relief, partnering with the UN to help receive Syrian refugees. We will help provide medical attention, warm, dry clothes, and warm meals before they continue through Greece into the rest of Europe.

Please keep my squad in your prayers as we travel through these next three days to reach the island. The island that we are going to work on is close to Turkey, but is a very dangerous island for the refugees to reach. The 3000-4000 refugees that make it to the island will be thankful to be alive, as they have been traveling on worn down boats and homemade rafts. We don’t know what to expect, so prayers for physical, spiritual, emotional, and psychological strength will be greatly appreciated.

In a matter of hours, we will quite literally be on the front lines of history. I personally don’t know much about the Syrian refugee crisis other than what I’ve seen in the media – and I recognize that’s only a small part of it and what is chosen to share with the public.

Going into this as one of my squad’s Story Leaders, I am conflicted. Have patience and grace with me as I learn how to walk through this with respect for those around me. I may not have pictures or video content for the next two weeks, but it is my aim to share these people’s stories as best I can. They deserve to have their journeys shared. They deserve all the support that can be given to them. I feel I have been called to the role of Story Leading to honor God and His people. To love them, and to show them grace.

With that, I don’t know what wifi will look like in Lesbos. Please know that no news from me is always good news. God is there waiting for us, He will be with us on the 11 hour bus ride to Athens and the 12 hour ferry ride to the island. He will be our protection as we go. I love you all and am so grateful for your support.

As my supporters, please consider sharing my squad’s story with your church and friends. We can use all the support we can get!

All my love,

Aubrey
