I’ve been back from Training Camp for a week and am still processing all that took place while there. It was held in Gainesville, Georgia and was a week-long preparation for my upcoming World Race. Training camp was uncomfortable. It was uncomfortable not having a real shower for a week, not eating the food of my choice, not knowing the schedule, wanting alone time but constantly having to be around people, getting very little sleep, and being wet, muddy and cold. Amidst all the physical discomforts, the most uncomfortable aspect of training camp was the realization that I have spent my life confining God to a box.

Ron Walborn, from Nyack Theological Seminary, was our main speaker. I was hugely challenged by his teachings. My view of God and, and in particular the work of the Holy Spirit, was hugely expanded as I realized He’s so much bigger than I’ve given Him room to be.

So what did I take away from training camp?

  • The SAME Holy Spirit that lived in Jesus lives inside of me, therefore, nothing is impossible.
  • The Holy Spirit speaks to me when I call upon Him in silence and with expectancy.
  • I feel the presence of God when I relinquish control of my own agenda and open myself up to whatever His plan is. I need to live in anticipation of what the Holy Spirit will do next.
  • I will be hungry, exhausted, peopled out, dirty, uncomfortable, etc., during the next 11 months, but I will experience God in ways I cannot imagine. Every second will be WORTH IT.

God blew off the lid of the box I had placed Him in. I can experience connection to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in ways I never knew existed. Connecting with the Holy Spirit takes time, effort and intentionality. I anticipate God blowing my mind throughout the next year. In order to experience God to the fullest, I cannot restrict His power. I am letting go of my comforts in search of His continual presence, because it is all about HIM.

 “God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20).

 

I met some incredible people during training camp. Above is a picture of the squad that I’ll be traveling with from country to country beginning in January (3rd generation P squad). Once arriving in each country, we will often break off into smaller teams for various ministry opportunities. Below is a photo of my team: Chance, Josh, Ariana, me, Jennie, and Vanessa. I am blessed to be spending the next year with these wonderful people!
