Going to Training Camp, of course I was a bit nervous.
Thoughts were going through my mind… am I
going to connect with anyone? Will people like me? Can I be myself? Who will I
hang out with? Who will be on my team? Will I be a team leader?

Training camp is supposed to replicate The World Race as
close as possible. Like many of you know who have talked to me, I don’t know
much about what I’ll be doing in each country. So likewise, I didn’t know much
about what was going to go down at Training Camp. They do this on purpose. I
think so we don’t have expectations.

I got to White, Georgia with a big smile on my face and hugs
to share with my new family. While everyone was meeting, we had to
set up our home for the week. From what we knew, we’d be sleeping in our tents
for the next 7 days.

There were 2 other squads at camp besides mine. Each squad is going on the same route and has about 50-70 people. My squad has 55 people, 19 guys and 36 girls.

I immediately connected with several people! One named
Shelly from Canton, Ga and Ally (pictured below) from Duluth, GA. I had never met or spoken with
either of these girls before I came to camp. Funny how God placed us together
and we already lived near one another without knowing it. Shelly and I decided
to sleep together that night in her small two person tent and leave our things
in my tent. I love having pillow talk at night with girlfriends!

Ally and I hit it off. We tried not to spend too much time
together so we could get to know other people, but sometimes we couldn’t help it. She is a lot like me, bubbly,
fun, sarcastic, encouraging and outgoing.

After setting up camp that night, we had worship. Because I
worked at Adventures in Missions, I know what to expect during worship. I know
there will be speaking in tongues, yelling, clapping, dancing, visions,
prayers, prophecy, etc.

I love dancing and singing loudly during worship
myself. However, most of these people coming into this place of worship did not
know what they were getting themselves into.
