Happy Birthday Courtney, my teammate! She is celebrating her
23rd birthday today in Estonia. We went to the beach/lake front for a picnic and made Mexican food for dinner (Happy Cinco de Mayo). We also watched Ms. Doubtfire which the church we’re living at surprisingly had in their stack of movies!
Wow, it’s my last month on the Race. It’s really hard for me
to believe, I think it is for all of us on the squad actually.
We are living in a small town called Voru, Estonia. We’re
partnered with a Methodist church this month! It’s exciting for me because I
grew up Methodist, so I am grateful to have some familiarity in the church. We
are also working with a South African missionary family. They have traveled
around the world, going where the Lord leads them. They moved to the town
within the last two months, so they’re still getting used to the language and
community here.
We live at the church with our own big kitchen, shower,
bedrooms, and sauna. How funny to us that we started in India living in a sauna
because of how hot it was, now we have a sauna in our house.
Our ministry this month is a large variety of things. Some
include painting the church, going to schools and presenting on our trip, going
to youth groups, and youth nights at the church.
This past Friday night we went to a youth group on the
country side. For most teenagers in Estonia it is hard to be a Christian. They
are social outcasts in their schools. Antika, a 14 year old, wanted her friends
to know Christ and know she is a Christian, but she didn’t want them to stop
talking to her. So, she started a hang out every Friday night at her church. A
time for her friends to come together, eat, play games, and hear testimonies
from a long term missionary here. She is so brave to share her faith with her
friends!
We’ve also gone to a big ware house to sort through clothes.
The church is going to have a clothing sale later this week. We had lots of
bags and boxes of clothes we had to go through, sorting into specific piles and
throwing out the bad clothes.

There are youth nights on Thursday nights for anyone who is
under the age of 30. So, I look forward to meeting more young people this month
and continuing to invest in them while we’re here.
Today, along with celebrating Courtney’s birthday, we’re
celebrating a 70 year olds who is a elder in the church. We went out for lunch
after the service to a small banquet hall. There were weird salads, juice, and
chicken broth to put in a coffee cup for lunch. People also sang old
traditional songs and gave speeches. They were not translated, so we just sat
and listened to the speech wondering what they were talking about for 30
minutes. We told Courtney we hired the man and woman to sing for her birthday – a nice treat.
