We've all thought up a senario before. Something that started out as a mere piece of fiction, but somehow in our minds we let it get out of control. Maybe it was something we heard about someone. It lead us to think up many other things that they could be doing. Maybe it's something we are worried about doing. Work, school, special event? But somehow we think up all the worst possible things that could go wrong. When you just force your mind to STOP, you'll find something out. All of this is FICTION!
Why do we even do this?!? I honestly don't know. It's in our human nature I guess. We subconciously want to know the future, and if we don't know it yet, we try to think it up. This leads to worrying and ultimately not doing anything productive. I find the times when I worry most to be when God calls me to do something that "I" am not sure "I" can do. Anyone else see a problem with that? I shouldn't be trying to do it on my own anyway!
When it comes to this whole World Race thing. I want to worry. I want to know exactly how everything is going to turn out. I want to know that all of my support money is going to come in on time. I want to know FOR SURE that this is something God has called me to do. What if I don't raise enough support money? What if God closes this door? What if something tragic happens in my family and I am forced to stay here? What if…?
Worrying is a bunch of "What ifs?" It's all fiction! So what does God's word tell us?
"Do NOT be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally brothers, whatever things are TRUE, whatever is HONORABLE, whatever is JUST, whatever is PURE, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is COMMENDABLE, if there is any EXCELLENCE, if there is anything WORTHY OF PRAISE, think about these things." – Philippians 4:6-8
What does God tell us to think about? THINGS THAT ARE TRUE! The FACTS! The things that bring him honor and praise.
So when it comes to the World Race…what FACTS do I know?
-God lead me to this point and I was accepted to participate into the World Race.
-I have amazing support from my family.
-I have been blessed with the support I have raised so far.
-I can look back and see the faithfulness of God in my life and know he will be more than faithful now.
I think as Christians we should question each other. Keep each other accountable. So Fact or Fiction?!? What are you dwelling on right now? If it's fiction…STOP IMMEDIATELY…think of a true thing that God has done in your life. And what does he promise to do?
