I would by no means consider myself a dancer. I have no rhythm and most of my mastered moves are the sprinkler and the seaweed. That is nothing to brag about.

About a week ago we were out as a team visiting one of the local markets trying to get fresh air and take a break from ministry. I am learning that ministry tends to follow you on the World Race. Especially when you look different than the people around you, people tend to flock to you.

My team and I stumbled across a group of young guys and a few girls break dancing in an open area near the market. Our first impulse…LET’S JOIN THEM! Makes sense right? (None of us have any skill when it comes to break dancing.)

Many of us overcame our comfort bubbles and just got out there and tried. We failed obviously, but we made friends in the process. We have since then been able to go back to this central area and join the guys. We have learned a few break dancing moves and the coolest part of the story. We have gotten to pray with the guys after making fools of ourselves. We have gotten to show them the love of Jesus through meeting them where they are at. Thai people are typically shy and not open to sharing with strangers.

It’s been a really cool and unexpected ministry this month. Being busy with teaching English and church services during the day we didn’t see this coming. I have really looked forward to our evenings out learning to break dance. No, it was not something that I had ever seen myself doing. But I am blessed to know that God brings us unexpected surprises.

Pray that we will continue to build relationships with these guys and point them to Jesus. Pray that God is also give us more opportunities to meet and share his love with the Thai people.
