Ethiopia has been one of my favorite months this past year. Our time was spent working with HOPEthiopia. They run a variety of sustainability projects and offer lessons in different trades and skills to create self-sufficiency among the widowed, orphaned, and youth of the community. They are in the midst of building many houses on their compound to house families in need and create community among families that feel abandoned, alone and hopeless. Our month was spent among the families currently living there– most of the little sweet faces below. We did construction, painting, and gardening. We were also able to teach English and IT at the nearby kindergarten and elementary school, and assisted in eye testing at the local K-12 schools! Words can be hard. So rather than me fumbling them out, take a look at what life in Ethiopia looked like for me. It was beautiful.
