If you’re wondering what I’ve been doing the past three months, I have been the alumni team leader for a group of 6 incredible gals.  Our team name is “Reckless”.  They met each other at their training camp this June and I came into the picture this August when we launched from Atlanta to Mongolia.  I have learned that this team name they picked for themselves in June is so fitting for them.  I have seen them recklessly live a life abandoned to Jesus, recklessly love the locals we meet, and recklessly love each other and point each other higher to become a godly community who chases after Jesus together.  Through the highs and the lows, this group of women love recklessly, going against the norm and chasing holy Love.

As my time begins to wrap up with these ladies, I thought I would introduce you, my loyal followers, to the women I spend each moment with.

Courtney is one compassionate, funny, and strong gal!  She is quick to laugh, (which is a blessing to all because she has one of the greatest laughs), quick to step up when she sees a need she can meet, and quick to check in on us when she can tell we are having an off day.  I always feel loved and encouraged around Courtney in the way she genuinely and authentically asks me about whats happening in my life.   She is fully surrendered to see the growth God has in store for her.  I see an urgency in her to love people and share the love God has put in her.  She loves each person we meet 100% as if she has known them for years, joking around with them and sharing about her life.  I have seen her love, trust and dependence on the Lord grow in huge ways these three months and I know there is so much more He is going to do through her!

Ash is a small little bean of energy, love and wisdom.  She is also one of the best-dressed World Racers I’ve come to known, which is impressive considering the size of our backpacks.  Her intimacy with the Lord is evident in the peace and love you feel when you are in her presence.  She is always giving God glory of what He is doing in her life by sharing with others His goodness and the lessons He is walking her through each day.  She seeks after growth to become more like Jesus and to share His love with the people around her.  This is evident in the way she carries the heart of the Father with her, seeing the pain and joys of the world so powerfully, feeling everything He feels.  Her compassion for others has spurred me on to know His heart deeper.

Hannah is easily one of the coolest gals ever, y’all.  She’s the only person I know whose outfits can go from a nice dress and jewelry to a tee shirt and snapback and then to a flannel and cowgirl boots all in the same day.  She is authentically herself no matter who is around her, which is great because she’s a firecracker of joy.  She intentionally checks in on her teammates and asks questions that push us to grow. She holds me accountable to the things I say I want to grow in, yet always meets me with grace also.  At the end of many conversations we have, she asks how she can grow and improve herself which blows me away each time she asks.  Her humility and desire to be more like Jesus is something I look up to in big ways!!!

Tiina is a servant through and through.  I have seen her serve so many locals we have met through listening for so long as they practice English with her and helping local coffee shops in Mongolia with their businesses.  She serves our team by hearing others opinions and perspectives and rallying around them in support, answering our countless questions about vegetables and how to cook them properly, and serving us as our treasurer, keeping us well- informed with our budget.  I see so much humility in Tiina in the way she is quick to ask our team for opinions, knowing we each bring different perspectives to the table.  Tiina is fun, funny, disciplined, and she turns to the Lord to be refilled by Him.

Lubbock is a woman of her word, using her words wisely to only speak truth.  She is full of joy and passion for Jesus Christ.  You can always catch her singing, dancing, or laughing with the many friends she makes everywhere we go.  She shine a bright light to the people we serve alongside, the people we share hostel rooms with, and the taxi drivers we ride with, including each person into our life as we go about our days.  This is such an example of the interruptible life we are called to live as we follow Jesus.  Lubbock sees each person as a person loved deeply by God and treats them accordingly.  Her passion to tell others how loved they are is inspiring and has stretched me to grow into a deeper boldness with my faith.  She doesn’t shy away from the Truth, yet embraces it fully, giving God all the glory.  Lubbock is someone who makes me feel loved, safe, and valuable.

Kenzie is adventurous, selfless, and a loyal friend.  She has given herself fully to this team which is shown through the way she is fully present when we come together, she loves hearing each person share, and is always on top of serving us through going to train stations or looking into new hostels.  We would quite literally still be at the Mongolia/China border without her.  Kenzie has such a gift for building relationships with people.  If there is a new face around the lunch table, it most likely started with a conversation they had with Kenzie. The Lord is growing Kenzie exponentially and I love having a front row seat.  Kenzie has recently stepped into the role of team leader for the Reckless gals and I couldn’t be more pumped about it!!  She loves this team, loves this life, and pursues the Lord for His wisdom.

These girls have sharpened me to look more like the Lord and shown me how to build a firm foundation on Him for when the craziness of this life comes.  I am so thankful for then past three months with them and excited to see all they do with God over the next eight months of their Race.  Thank you all for the support as I have led this group of girls.  I have been humbled, refined, and pointed back to God countless times.
A few of these girls are still fundraising to finish their Race.  If you feel led to donate, please click on their links to see how you can help out!!

Blessings,
Ashton Paige
