hey guys, i am currently in atlanta, georgia, at Launch with my worldrace squad as we are preparing to head out onto our race. these past few days have been such a wide variety of emotions. some of the hardest goodbyes to friends and family, but also the sweetest reunions with my squadmates, filled with the excitement as we think about what is to come in these next 11 months.
before arriving at launch, i was battling many fears and doubts. i was fearful of what i was leaving behind, and i was fearful of what i was stepping into. thursday morning, i sat at the airport thinking what the heck am i doing.
right away, though, the Lord erased those fears. He reminded me just how valid they are, but He filled me with peace and excitement as the race is becoming more and more real.
at launch, we have had many sessions- learning about the power in sharing our stories, how to share the good news of the gospel through cultural differences, stewardship of the Lord’s blessings, and areas to grow within a leadership role the Lord has called me to on my squad. we have also had sweet, sweet worship and prayer with our parents. this was the sweetest time to me.
during this time, i had just the most simple reminder of the most simple concept. i have been told time after time that these 11 months on the race are going to radically change me and i will return a different person. however, this can be true for everyone. there is nothing special about the world race, there IS something special about living with the Holy Spirit. the Lord moves wherever He is invited in to move and He will move as radically as we ask of Him. life for my family, friends, and supporters can look so different over the next 11 months, and i pray and hope that it does. the Lord is not done with any of us yet, no matter what this year looks like. so i encourage, you, little reader, wherever you are, on the race or at home, invite the Lord in to beautifully wreck you this year and i promise you He will. i desire to come home next year, drastically changed for the glory of God and to step back into my family and friendships and see them just as stretched and moved by the Spirit of God.
so, tomorrow, bright and early, my squad and i will head out to our first country- chile. please pray for us and safety as we travel, as well as any more fears to fade away as we get a feel for what this next month will look like for us.
also, i just want to thank anyone and everyone who has already so generously donated for my race! i am currently 60% funded and am amazed by the Lord’s faithfulness to get me to this point!!! if you are still interested in donating, you can online at this page, or please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
