John 10:10
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
This verse played a huge role for me at the beginning on the World Race, almost a year ago. I clung to this verse as I learned how to decipher the voice of Truth and the voice of the world around me in my personal life.
Again, this verse has come up during a very similar season as I prepare to go back on the field for four more months. Being back in the United States for a month has been so sweet, yet also a wakeup call to the transformation the Lord is still longing to do within me. He has shown me what abundant life with Him looks like. He has given me a new realization of what is abundantly life-giving and not merely momentarily satisfying in this world. I was a bit frazzled at first wondering why certain things that I would normally not think twice about were now more difficult and draining than before. Then the Lord but John 10:10 back on my heart. The ways that I had previously sought out life and satisfaction were no longer filling. On the World Race, the Lord showed me the Truth of abundant life and He filled with such pure joy being able to live this out with Him. In the transition home, He was gracious and near at every step, showing me what He desires to fill me up with- oodles of time with Him, sweet conversations of how the Lord has grown and stretched my friends and family, a new perspective to the world around me, and humbly realizing just how much Grace He pours over me every day as I do this imperfectly.
Abundant life is here, at hand for us all. In the midst of the mundane, I see abundant life. I feel it in His presence. Sitting with the Lord this summer has given me more life than any distraction of the world. I have been refreshed, refueled, and carried with grace during this transition.
I am on my way to Atlanta, GA, currently for a week with my old squad and then will begin leadership training for alumni team leading. At the beginning of August, my new squad and I will be headed to Mongolia. Thank you everyone for the sweet support and prayers!
