Each Monday we have “Activation Monday.” On this day we have some sort of teaching in the first half of the day, and then after lunch we go out and spend a few hours doing ask the Lord (ATL). ATL is basically a time when we go out and spend some time seeking the Lord and seeing what He is doing in the area. At first I was not sure how I felt about this type of ministry. I felt like there were expectations I had to live up to. For example, when we would go out, I would become a little discouraged if I didn’t come back with “a cool story.” After a couple weeks of ATL, however, I realized that having a cool story is not the heart behind this type of ministry. The heart is for you to go out and be obedient in whatever He asks you to do. This can be anything from handing out flowers to talking to a homeless person on a park bench. Some days you might have a story about how you saw God work in crazy ways, and others you have a story about how God allowed you to do something as simple and beautiful as make someone smile by handing them a flower. God works in the small ways.

My team is also currently working with a school in Alajueleta Tuesday-Friday. At the school, we each get sent into a class to assist the teacher in teaching or whatever else they need help with that day. I typically help teach English to the students, or at least assist when they need help. I also get to practice my Spanish there which as been a lot of fun!

On Saturdays and Sundays, we typically have some sort of adventure planned on one day, and another day to rest and do absolutely nothing!

And that is what a week at the base looks like. 🙂
