Currently, I am still on a social media fast with most of my team (we have a few weeks left!) but I want to share some pictures of Serbia with you. This is for you mom and dad!

This is my team! We will be together for at least 3-4 months if not more. From the left: Chelsea, Izi (a native Serbian we spend time with), Brandi, Kelsey, Kristi, and Janele. This is in the town center which is the hub of activity for Novi Sad.

Town center again. There are long alleyways and the buildings near the center are the most fancy “European” looking out of all the city in my opinion.

This is Izi up close! She is 15, has a lot of energy, and puts us to shame when it comes to walking around the city. When we got here, she was the first smiling, welcoming face we met that was eager to know us. This is in front of the Danube River.

Most of the team again minus Kristi hiding. This coffee shop is called The Loft and is by the university. Lots of students like it. Here we met an AMAZING barista and student named Danijela from Serbia that we have been getting to know the past few days.

One night at the Zumba class. We strive to go on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. This is a class of ages 6-16 of girls plus their welcoming teacher Snezana. We have been excited to build relationships with all of them!

Some of the kids that attend church youth group and also who we hang out with after certain events to get to know them more and build relationships with them. That’s my teammate Janele with Emil, Mark, and I think Marko is in the bottom left corner!

A view from the Petrovaradin fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia that we went to on one of the days we get “off” each week. That means we just don’t have formal ministry planned out – we can rest, learn the culture more, and go see things if we would like.

To give you an idea of the city we live in. We walk about 6-8 miles a day to get to places for ministry, meet with people, etc.

For food, we have tried a couple authentic foods from Serbia. Usually we eat small meals that we make as a team in our kitchen in our budget but we have tried two meals so far. The first picture is Burek which is made with a flaky pastry dough and is stuffed with meat or a curdy, creamy cheese. The second is called Cevap which is minced meat in bread. We have learned Serbia is all about meat, bread, and cheeses.
