The long story….

I have decided to take a huge step in my faith and go on a mission trip to Thailand! It has not be an easy by any means.

Back Story: In fact, someone asked me in July  “if you could do one thing right now without fear holding you back, what would you do?” My response at the time was missions. Not exactly sure why because I had never thought about missions until last summer but something started stirring up inside of me.

As I was starting school in August, I had just gotten back from working in the kitchen at a Young Life camp for a month so I was eager to apply for an internship. As I was going through the application process, I was super excited but also had this tiny gut feeling that was telling me I was not going to get the internship position I wanted (hint: I). With that being said, I ran with that tiny feeling and started looking into mission trips through the World Race as a backup plan. It wasn’t a very lengthy application, so immediately started filling it out. Side note: In the past, I have had a hard time taking control of situations and trying to plan out my own life. With that being said, I took a step back from filling out the application because I was afraid that I was being driven by what I (keyword: I) wanted to do and not what God intended for me to do. Moving forward, I had messaged my mentor early November saying I was confused on what I was supposed to do for the summer of 2019. She had said God would open the right one and close the wrong one. A simple idea… but it was something that required a ton of prayer and patience. God gave me so much peace through the process.

I waited. One night late December, I woke up at midnight and immediately had told myself I needed to finish my World Race application. I finished it by 1:30 AM. At this time, I still had not heard back about the intern position for the Young Life camp.

A few phone calls later and about two weeks, I had gotten accepted into the World Race late December.

Here is the cool thing, the amount I have to fundraise is $4,600. I have struggled to trust the Lord with my finances (it has been a slow process of learning) so I was praying for the Lord to make it clear that this is what I am supposed to do. Within the first twelve hours after announcing I was going on the World Race, I had fundraised $700. Some of you may be like “that’s nothing,” while others might say, “that is crazy!” For me, this affirmed that I could rest easy and trust the Lord with this number and that He was going to make a way for me to go.

Why did you choose Thailand? Welp, I really couldn’t answer that question specifically. Thailand right now is predominantly Buddhist. Why I am led there, we will see. Again you may ask, what I am doing?  In Thailand, I will be going to ministering to children as well as those in the red light district. There is no set itinerary, only God knows how He will move while I am there. With that being said, you can follow along with my journey by subscribing to my blog! By doing so, you will receive updates when I post and know just how God is moving on this trip!

I hope you guys consider walking with me on this journey through prayer and donations!
