I finally made it to Guatemala!! Words can not describe my excitement to be living here for the next three months. My team and I flew into Guatemala City on Wednesday September, 9th and were greeted by our Ministry host, Louis Castello. Louis is the founder of Nueva Genercion, which is non-profit organization that spreads the gospel and love to the youth in Antigua by going into the local public schools and teaching classes. From Guatemala City it was only a short bus ride to San Pedros de las Huertas, the suburb of Antigua we are living in.
I am going to have to say that I am very blessed to have the accommodations that I do. When we pulled up to our house I was in awe. Not only was the house absolutely gorgeous but the view is even better. Our community is surrounded by two active volcanoes that erupt every morning. In our home we are fortunate enough to have beds, filtered water, wifi, and warm showers. So to say we are very blessed is an understatement.
Our first day of ministry was Friday the 11th. I was sent into a local public school with five other people to talk about the dangers of drug abuse. Each one of us told our own testimonies on how drugs and alcohol have effected our lives. This allowed us to connect with two sixteen year old girls who had experienced some of the same things. We didn’t have much time at the school, but I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for us this week!
So far things have been going great for my team and I. I know the Lord has amazing things in store these next three months in Guatemala! Please keep us in your prayers! Why the Guat not?
