As the new year rolls in my team and I are starting to get settled in here in Malaysia. The move from Guatemala to Malaysia was more difficult than I expected it to be but I am loving Malaysia more and more everyday.
My team (ma’ladies) and I live in a small town in northern Malaysia called Chunglun. Chunglun is a predominately Muslim town, where evangelizing is illegal. But the Lord has given us an amazing Godly host family. Pastor Thomas and his wife welcomed us into their lives with open arms. Pastor Thomas is truly a man of God and his wife, Shamala, has such gentle heart. They have three kids; Zach, Misha, and Felicia, who we are able to love on everyday.
Pastor Thomas runs a kindergarten in which we get to teach in everyday. There are about 30 kids in the one room school and they are the craziest, most lovable children I’ve ever been around. It’s not always easy teaching children who don’t speak the same language as you but I am loving every minute of it.
Since our town follows by very strict Muslim rules we have to be careful about how we act. It is illegal to evangelize here so as far as our town knows we are just volunteers here to teach. We can not wear clothes with anything about Christianity or the World Race on them. We also have to dress very modestly to respect their culture. It’s been very difficult not being able to talk about our faith or even the reason on how we got here but my team and I don’t let it discourage us. We are learning that our actions speak louder than words and even though we can’t share the gospel we can still show the love of God through our actions.
Malaysia has definitely put me out of my comfort zone but that is what the Lord calls us into. I am so excited to see what He has in store for my team and I here in Chunglun!

All my love, from Malaysia
