Every day that I wake up, I am one day closer to this adventure. I have found, that as we get closer to leaving, I get closer to the people going on the trip with me. In a few short days, people I have never met have now become my friends.
They are the ones I share my insecurities, fears, doubts and joy with. Because they understand. Just like me, they are having the exact same thoughts. We are connected because we choose January Route 5. But deeper than that, we are connected because God knew we belonged together. He knew that we needed each other and that we were the right ones for each other.
As I share my life stories with these people, and they share theirs with me, I realize I have more in common with a group of strangers than I ever thought possible. I know, that after 11 months together, they will no longer be strangers. They won’t even be friends. They’ll be family. We will have a bond like no other. It is going to be a bond that I honestly believe will stand the test of time.
Because, we are living with abandon together. We are saying goodbye to the comforts of our everyday lives and we are saying hello to the unknown. Together. Each one of these Christians are going to teach me something. And each one will impact my life greatly.
Training camp is just three short months away. This will be my first opportunity to meet my team and see who they are in person rather than over Facebook. I cannot wait for this. I can’t wait to hug them, pray with them, cry, sing, dance, laugh, and give ourselves over to God with them.
In order for that to happen, I do have to achieve my first fundraising goal of $3,500 I have $2,800 left to go. Would you consider donating? May God bless you!
