This month I am finally in a place where I feel connected and get to do things I am passionate about, and I am SO excited! Many of the places we have gone I have enjoyed: last month I loved the people and the ministry, it was all great, but I didn’t feel a connection, and didn’t build many relationships. I also loved Cambodia too. I enjoyed the country so much and loved working on all those videos for the church, but again, didn’t build any relationships with the locals. This month, I have the opportunity to train U15 boys for two weeks and then coach them at a tournament being held at the school up the road on the 22nd! Pastor Gift is incredible, and I have a good connection and relationship with him already. I have been wanting so badly the past 3-4 months to play soccer and finally have the opportunity to do that! I have only coached for two days now, but the kids are fairly skilled and when they pay attention, they learn quickly. I am thankful for coaching a young girls team in high school, and then doing USSA with coach Bahr in college. I wish I had my soccer girls with me to help, this makes me miss you all so much!
This past Saturday, the older boys (18-21) had try outs for a travel team, and I helped pick out the ones they were going to keep for the first cuts. A few of the guys from that team are also our translators, so I have been able to build relationships with them as well. Last Saturday night, we invited a few of the translators and some of the young girls as well as Pastor Gift’s family and had Mexican night, a bon fire, and s’mores. Pastor Gift busted out his speakers and we plugged an ipod in and had a dance party till late in the night. It was one of the best nights we have had in a long time!
I haven’t felt this great in a long time. I am eating well, exercising and having fun in a place I love doing things I love! Thanks Lord for giving me this month, and for giving me the patience to make it to month 8!
