My 23rd birthday is certainly one I will never forget.

It started off with the usual teaching English in the morning to the kids, to which, I did not have to teach, and I got to hold the most beautiful baby girl with curly hair and big blue eyes! Lunch was the usual rice, beans, and some type of mystery meat, and then I met up with the rest of me team to do some celebrating! I recieved a Dominican bracelet, a pair of sandals…and….the best! Chips and Queso! Nothing like some American Food! My team was so good to me! We were heading out the door to go get some ice cream before going to do sports ministry and teach English again, when out of no where I was hit over the head! The next thing I knew, there was flour and egg all over the place. All over my arm, my yellow shirt, my skirt, and flour caked in my hair. Apparently this is a tradition here as one of the teachers in the morning had this happen to her because her birthday was the same as mine. I told Zanza, the pastor´s wife, that she should not do that to me as well, but she was sneaky and found a way. It was really pretty funny to be honest. Then she took me out back and poored water all over my head. And yes, I was fully dressed and was drenched with water now as well. She brought out some shampoo, so I was able to wash my hair, but not everything came out. I really wanted some ice cream though, so we walked into town with me in my wet clothes smelling like egg. Too funny. Let´s just say I got a lot of looks as we walked around town! It was a good time though, and we plan on carrying out the tradtion the rest of the year!

I think you can pretty much tell what has happened in this picture!
You just have to have fun with it! All the women thought it was sooo funny. I had to laugh too!

And here is Zanza dumping water all over me. No warning, just water being dumped.
