Some people are blessed with a very best friend. One person who is there for you no matter what. One person to fits all the descriptions out there of what a best friend should be. I, however, have been blessed with several of those people. Why? I have no idea … God just really liked me the day He started choosing my friends.
One of those favored people is a girl I've blogged about before. Her name is Laura and she lives in Haiti . We were roommates once, but God had enough of the craziness in Haiti and moved her there to turn that country upside down. That's exactly what she's doing one little brown child at a time.
Today my parents and I said goodbye to my boyfriend and sister and set off to the Windy City for launch. That's right… I'm going to Africa soon! But before I took off, Laura wanted to send me prayers and encouragement and everything in between. She's always been really good and that, much better than me, So I want to share this prayer with you and beg you to join her in praying it for me. So, without further ado, the prayer Laura wrote on my Facebook wall today:
I pray the Lord strengthens you and holds you on this journey.
As you leave some of the people you love the most today, I pray God strengthens you and holds you.
When you see the faces of so many cultures and people groups, may the Lord whisper sweet secrets of Heaven in your ear.
The nights you are sick and your body seems to be against you, I pray the Lord holds you closer than ever, and you realize none of this is possible without Him. None of this matters without Him.
The days you miss your family so deeply and the pain of that is so heavy you feel that the weight is unbearable, I pray the Lord holds you and reminds you of the perfect Father He is. And that He is the one who blessed you with your family.
When the sunlight hits your face or the wind brushes your cheek, may the Lord remind you that His Spirit is with you.
For every smile you give away, every laugh you pierce the air with, every tear that wets your pillow, and every move you make, I pray they see the glory of God in His child.
When you are filthy and haven't bathed in days, may the Lord remind you of His purity and goodness.
I pray many lives are changed by your squad because of the work God does through you.
Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime.
Let HIS name be known!!
May you come back looking more like Jesus 🙂
P.S. Wish I could help you say bye to your family. If you ever figure out an easy way to do that, let me know.
