So if you got an alert that I posted a couple of days and looked and there was nothing that was because I felt like I rushed my blog and didn’t Feel like I was writing how I was actually feeling so I deleted it. For those of you who read these, I want you to know how I’m doing and feeling during this whole adventure. Before even signing up for the race I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life but I was certain I was never going to be a teacher. After signing up and making it on the race there was a possibility we would be teaching and in my head, I did not think anything of it since it was only a possibility. A week before we left for Cambodia we got an email saying my team would be teaching at New Hope School for month 1 and 2 of the race. I was up for the challenge, I mean how hard could it be right? I was so wrong! I now know how my sister and friends feel trying to make lesson plans is stressful and do not even get me started about trying to make kids focus. Our first day of teaching I was so discouraged because I felt like this was gonna be a struggle for me. But as the days went on I could tell the kids started growing on us and started listening and paying attention. I started to love teaching these kids. We start our days out at 6 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. Let me tell you guys I am not a morning person. It was a challenge for me to stay awake but the kids have enough energy for the both of us. They definitely wake me up within the first 10 minutes.

The best part about teaching is I get to do it with my best friend Taley and it’s so good because I thrive in our morning class with the younger kids and she thrives in the afternoon with the older kids so we definitely even each other out. We also have the sweetest ministry hosts! they are so generous and open their home up to us! Right now New hope is trying to raise money for their teacher salaries, the kids, and new developments! If you feel lead to donate or even look into it here is the link!

So if you were to ask me how month one was going I would tell you to imagine getting up in the morning and going to work and being greeted by tons of smiling faces hugging you and fighting over who gets to hold your hand. I would tell you teaching these kids English and about Jesus is probably the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Sorry for the late post!
