New year. New me. Sorry, you guys I had to throw that in there. So its been 2 weeks into the New year so here I am writing you guys another blog to update you on my life. A week ago we left our ministry at the special needs home and traveled to Guatemala for our next ministry location. We spent 6 days in Antigua, Guatemala to just adventure around and take a break from ministry. Don’t worry we still had sessions and one on ones during this time. During debrief, they asked me if I wanted to change my role as Point person to Team leader. So instead of being in charge of our team times, I would have a lot more responsibilities. I never really thought of myself as a leader but I wanted to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone so I accepted! We were also told we were having team changes. My team went from a team of 5 girls to now being a team of 7! We also decided since we are a new team we should change our name from Dynami to SOL (Sunshine in Spanish).

After debrief we drove to our base where we will be staying for the next 2 months of our lives. Let me tell you….. your girl is sooooo pleased with our living arrangements. we get our own beds, amazing food, and HOT SHOWERS. Let me say that again. HOT SHOWERS!! Praise the Lord he is good! Everyone said Central America would be so hot but it’s the opposite right now. Its cold in the mornings and warms up during the day then gets cold again at night… your girl didn’t think to bring warm clothes… amen for thrift shops. So besides my living arrangements,  I am teaching at a school named Coni. Every morning we hop on chicken buses to get to school. You’re probably wondering what a chicken bus is. A chicken bus is a very decorated bus that’s only supposed to fit 20 people on it but instead, you fit 50. They also play load and you’re probably gonna be sitting butt cheek to butt cheek.

At Coni, we teach an English lesson and help the teachers with anything they need. We are kinda like teacher aids. My friend Taley and I get to teach 2nd grade, shout out to my teacher friends! I love these spunky little kids already. But Guatemala has been great so far! I can’t wait to update you guys next week!! Thanks for reading!
