Time in the Word is so important as a believer. I love the Word because it’s the same book you are reading repeatedly yet, it comes alive in different ways every time. When I became a believer I was mainly only reading psalms and the New Testament. And I learned so much by staying there! It’s where I learned about the Fathers love for me, His forgiveness, His grace, His truth, the authority He gives me and so much more.

But that is where I got caught staying. Because it’s a beautiful love story and it’s encouraging. There are many times where I saw the Old Testament as a history book instead of a love story. I didn’t understand why many things were the way they were during those times and that frustrated me. It seemed more like something I had to do rather than wanted to do.

So of course, currently, God has me reading through the Old Testament and staying away from the New Testament. There are times I’ve been struggling with this and barely reading anything. But now, He is revealing a whole new world to me. I am bringing my frustrations about the Old Testament to the Father and He is revealing His heart to me. He is teaching me and growing me.

Today, I received the reason why I am pressing into the Old Testament right now. I needed the New Testament to learn about his love for me. I now need the Old Testament to learn about his love for others. I am learning more about how to love His other children. I am learning about others faiths journeys. Because it’s not about me anymore. I’m not a baby believer anymore and He is challenging me to step out and continue growing. I am very comfortable in my faith but I know there is so much more for me out there.

What are you reading currently? Why?
Are you allowing God to challenge you?
Are you growing in your faith?
Are you comfortable?

Maybe it’s time for a change.
