This past week was my first official week of full time ministry and I absolutely loved it! It’s been so awesome and I’m thirsty for more!
The first week and a half living in Cambodia was challenging for me. Living with 34 girls can be hard in itself let alone doing it in another country with 34 girls. It can be very challenging adjusting to a new culture and a new community all at once. I’ve been experiencing homesickness, culture shock, and cultural stress which has made it difficult to press in to Jesus.
Though time, vulnerability, and my squad mates have encouraged me and helped me relieve this stress by pointing me to Jesus. The stress of everything is fading and the love and humility has started to take root in my heart, it’s so refreshing!
I feel more at home. I see the palm trees, the diligent woman working in the markets, the kids dancing and playing sports in the streets, the men working hard in the rice paddies, and the beautiful skinned humans roaming the tiled streets. What an invigorating sight.
Every morning I teach English to 5th and 3rd grade kids with the most energetic human on the planet, Grace. It’s such a privilege to serve alongside such a fun person, it makes teaching such a joy …even when she dabs 5 times each session lol.
After I get back from teaching in the morning, I have the privilege to listen in on a bible study in the book of Romans. Stephan, one of my ministry hosts leads this study, he is filled with so much passion and loves God so intimately. They’re family inspires me so much.
One of my favorite parts of the day is when I go to Green Mango! This is a little coffee shop on the other side of town where my teammates and I get to help trafficked woman learn English. These girls are so sweet and are ages 16-32, they’re so fun to hangout with! We help them go over the menu, play games with them, and color together while listening to music. I feel honored and privileged to be a part of these girls lives as they are such a treasure to me.
I then get to go to the World Mate Emergency Trauma Hospital where I play board games, perform skits and (drum roll please) sing songs! Lol because ya girl is not much of a singer. It’s cool though because some girls on my team have some pipes and can sing so they help me out! I’m interested in doing medical missions for a career so this is a treat for me! It’s cool to get a little sneak peak of what the medical field looks like over seas.
I’m super excited that God has placed me in these 3 ministries! I’m looking forward to the next month of ministry. Right now I am at debrief in Siem Reap, Cambodia where my squad and I are relaxing and getting filled for our next 3 months of ministry!
