Thought I would write fun blogs about why I love the countries I’ve been to over the last 9 months – starting with CAMBODIA!

20 reasons why I love this place and not in any particular order

  1. Asian food – noodles, dumplings and boba tea are my fav
  2. The weather – compared to Northern Ireland the weather whilst it’s humid, it’s sunny most of time
  3. The country side – miles and miles of green
  4. The language – whilst it’s one of the hardest to learn – it’s been really fun to speak
  5. The people – they are incredible open to sharing stories, their own stories even with people like me – it’s really powerful and humbling
  6. The children – bright eyed and always ready for piggy backs
  7. Kampot – beautiful part kinda tourist-y and beach life
  8. Battambang – one of my favourite places – coffee shops, noodle man, schools it’s a really cool place
  9. Siem Reap – has pretty much everything – cinema for 2$ lots of street food, restaurants and coffee shops, my fav – sister srey!!!
  10. The rain – the rain is actually warm and so makes for fun dance parties
  11. The islands – rabbit island is by far the most beautiful and peaceful place I’ve been to yet
  12. Public transport – I could travel from one end of the country to the other for 10$ and the buses are pretty comfortable sometimes with AC and bunk beds!
  13. Malls – all the Asian malls and 15 storeys – all American stores  for a fraction of the price – kinda nice if your into that sorta thing
  14. Visa stamp – it’s pretty
  15. The flag – it has Angkor Wat on it – one of the very few flags that has buildings on it
  16. Speaking of Angkor Wat – Cambodia has some beautiful but dark history lessons, they also have some beautiful culture architecture – ran my first half marathon round them – so awesome!
  17. Tuk Tuks – so fun! The cheapest way to get anywhere it’s basically a moped with seats
  18. The currency – it’s pretty colours and super great exchange rate – although they do also take US dollars
  19. Water festivals – a soaking-wet-time-of-the-year thing basically the streets are lined with hoses, pipes, water guns, buckets and you just get soaked all day – it’s nice when it’s humid
  20. The ministry – the ministry I did specifically was amazing – I have been to Cambodia 3 times and every time I do something different – ATL (ask the Lord) anti human trafficking ministry, kids, gym, drama, teaching English, 24 hr prayer, Sunday school, manual labour – you name it I did it and I loved it – some difficult days but for the most part amazing!

PS – I’m currently fundraising for my flight home to Northern Ireland – it’s working out roughly around £500/$800
