Ok so this is one of the many stories I’ve wanted to share but alas time runs away on me, there are a few stories of which will be subsequent blogs, for now here is one from month 7 – Malaysia
Rewinding back to this month I have such fond memories of our time in Malaysia. This was our first country in South East Asia and very excited to get ‘stuck in’ to whatever ministry had to offer.
For the most part we were given the freedom to do what world race calls ATL – ask the Lord. Basically creating space and time for God to speak and guide us to people or ministries that we could share the gospel with.
At first we were all excited and a little nervous. The first few days were spend wondering around Penang asking the Lord to guide us. By the end of the week we were feeling frustrated at having not seen or talked to anyone. We came to a place of recognising that we were putting too much pressure on ourselves and each other to create moments by being everywhere all the time, instead of remembering at God is everywhere all the time and that He would guide us. So taking pressure off of ourselves to do it the way we thought, we visited specific coffee shops, food trucks and hostels regularly and build relationships with those around us.
Looking back at this month I realise that the Lord was just looking for us to be engaged, willing and humble to seek His face first and be obedient to what He had for us and not what we thought ministry was ‘suppose’ to look like.
Because of our obedience to trust that this is what the Lord wanted us to do and pursue relationship with specific people, we ended up having several really cool moments – the most fun was being together and painting a mural.
We had total freedom in this project and one of our team mates who is brilliantly talented in all things art came up with the idea and story. So I leave you with the video and you can see how it all came to life!
Enjoy! 🙂
