This week seen the start of our first full week of ministry I want to share some of the highlights of each day with you and some pictures from the week
Domingo
Today we went to church, it’s situated in a town called ciudad viaje, our host has just planted this church roughly nine months ago, there is roughly 30/40 people go and about 20 children. We prayed together and then have worship, worship is energetic and a lot of fun and of course in Spanish but it was easy to follow along. Afterwards our team split up and some helped with children’s ministry and the rest took part in the service.
The service has been on the topic of hearing God’s voice and how he speaks to us today, we were able to translate some of the discussion and it was really encouraging to hear; the pastor is very passionate about sharing faith in Jesus and the church.
Lunes
Today as we were serving at church the previous day, we had the morning off to relax, some of the team went into San Pedro which is where we live with the host to do some evangelism. They had an amazing experience, got to share with the local people about Jesus and build connections, and invite them to church. We were all super encouraged ๐
Martes
Today we split up our team and half started music classes at the church, one of our team members is brilliant at teaching all things music. She was able to teach guitar and some singing exercises, 6 people turned up from the community and we were able to interact well with – downside was we only had one guitar but we managed and everybody enjoyed it.
The other half of the team went to do home visits in the community with the pastors wife, they talked and prayed with people in their homes, shared Jesus and built good relationships.
Miercoles
In the morning our team was split up again and one of the girls was able to lead a Zumba class in the morning – which was A LOT of fun! The other half of the team, got to share and pray at the woman’s meeting – they are an amazing bunch of women who are passionate in seeking after the Lord in prayer.
In the afternoon some of the team got to go to one of the schools are host teaches in. In previous weeks we have talked about the importance of having good values and living them out well, today the school was doing exams, so we didn’t get to teach and interact with them, it’s due to their school term finishing this week so everybody getting organised for holidays. We got to connect and build relationship with our host more, he is an amazing guy and what he is doing in the community is incredible, we even had an impromptu singing lesson with him.
Jueves
Today part of the team got to go to a different school to teach classes, they left very early as school starts at 7:30 AM. They were able to share with the pupils about the importance of family and that how we are all in the family of God and we all have a part to play.
The other half of the team did more music lessons at the church, we didn’t have as many as the other day but it meant spending more one on one time which was good, I think they enjoy the guitar lessons more so.
Thursday night is my night to lead team time, we got into pairs and asked each other a bunch of questions some easy and some with a little more depth, we got to pray and encourage one another in pairs, it’s been one of my favourite things I love getting to know more about my team!
Viernes
Today a couple of the girls went to do Zumba in town again this morning, the other half of the team made doughnuts to sell as part of a church fundraiser to send some of the youth to Nicaragua. The team sold all the doughnuts and got to have really good conversations with people.
My highlight of this week has honestly been just spending time in Guatemala itself, learning more about the culture, its city, about its history and taking in its beauty. One of my favourite things has been waking up at 6am to spend time with God, I go and sit out on the garden porch and staring back at me is the mountains and volcano and I just love it! The Lord keeps reminding me that ‘you have faith that moves the mountain, ask and you will receive’ and I’m actually looking at the mountains as he says this…SO GOOD!
I would really love your feedback on this, comment below and please continue to pray for me and my time as we continue to learn and grow in everything and in the everyday ๐
Also I still have some way to reaching my goals, the next one is $13,000 and I’m about $2000/£1700 away. I’m fundraising and asking in prayer would you support me financially and help continue what Gods’ put on my heart by giving £30/$40 you can donate on the homepage or contact me ๐
