I was walking to the fridge, and I saw a volcano. Yes, this is real life.

Me in the kitchen, the view from our kitchen. Note the Purple Jacaranda tree and that mountain slope, yup, that's a volcano.
We got into Antigua, Guatemala on Friday the 13th, and it is GOOD! Our team of 6 gals, named Raja (A Patient Hope) is staying at a youth hostel in a sweet little cobblestone street town at the base of an active volcano. No worries mi familia, hasn’t erupted for at least 3 years. We are partnering this month with another team, Shadowfeet, working with the elderly, at a hospital with kids with cerebral palsy and working in schools with junior high kiddos.
More on ministry later because…we get our first two days off! I mean, wow. We are all just bowled over to have such an amazingly generous transition into the culture of Guatemala, and the culture of world race community. After 6 months of preparation, fundraising, cutting ties, selling our stuff, moving away from friends and family, most of us are just plain beat! I am so so so thrilled to have this opportunity and am still pretty overwhelmed with all the changes occurring. To have our first two days in country to rest, relax, sleep in, figure out the currency, get to know each other and this town is the hugest blessing. Man, God is good.
So, we are here, safe and I can't wait to tell you more. Muchos besos para mis amigos y abrazos para mi familia. I miss you all tons.
