Hey All!
This is my first attempt at a blog and I want to start off with a little about me. I was born and raised in Santa Barbara County, California and grew up mostly in the mountains near Santa Ynez Valley on 53 acres of oak forest. I've got 5 younger brothers and sisters countless awesome aunts uncles and cousins. My favorite thing is getting together with my family and friends, sharing meals and stories.
Some Stats:
-I am 27, (28 this December!) have 4 sisters (Jessika, Hannah, Clara and Kylee) and one Brother, Gregory. We have 4 parents between us, but they are all mine:)
-I live in San Diego California and run a climbing gym and Challenge Course for UC San Diego
-I've got one cat, so I'm still pretty far away from being the crazy cat lady
-I love to travel, explore and do goofy things
-I am a secret (not so secret) nerd, not geek because I don't have any techy skills, but a true nerd. I love the history channel, sci fi shows and fantasy novels. Anything with elves and wizards is pretty awesome, but my favorite is the Sword of Shanara series by Terry Brooks.
-I love my job, my house, my friends, my city and am still so excited to travel and be pushed on this trip
I became a Christian when I was 13. My aunt Julie sent me the first book in the 'Left Behind' series and while reading the first few chapters I was struck by the thought that God loves and knows me so well he would do anything literally anything to bring me close to him. Over the next decade God transformed our family. First my mother, then stepfather, aunts, uncles and cousins accepted the Lord into their lives. We have such a strong praying family now, it's just the hugest blessing.
I've lived and worked all over California. I am amazingly spoiled when it comes to weather! I am so excited for this journey because I have lived such a comfortable blessed life and am excited to grow as I encounter situations I would not normally put myself in. I enjoy my quiet time and don't expect to be alone often on this trip. Traveling with my surrogate family of 7 other world racers is bound to challenge me often. I see this trip as an opportunity to discover what true intimacy is like; what it is like to support others day in and day out as we are tired, cranky and grateful all at the same time. Thanks for joining me and thank you so much for your support!
