Kathmandu, Nepal is surrounded by beautiful mountains. The sun shines brightly every day, and is accompanied by a cool breeze that blows off the mountains. The people are tiny, round-faced, and quick to smile. From the tiniest baby, to the oldest woman, every person you pass on the street immediately clasps their hands at their chest and utters “namaste” in greeting. Let me tell you- when a baby who can barely toddle town the street says “namaste” to you, your heart melts out of your chest and down onto the sidewalk.
This month is all squad month, which means we get to live and do ministry as a giant team of 48! Ministry this month looks different every day. Each morning all of us trek about 30 minutes to our ministry host’s house. Upon arrival, we spend an hour in “amad” or quiet time with the Lord. Then we gather as a group to worship and receive instruction on ministry for that day. Sometimes that looks like hiking to the highest point in Kathmandu to pray over the city and country. Sometimes that looks like prayerfully going out into the city to speak truth and life over people God reveals to us. Sometimes it looks like cooking meals and holding babies.
This month will be one of growth and dependence on our Father beyond what most of us have had to do in the past. Going out on the town and expecting to find a person to share a specific word from the Lord is daunting on our own. Tapped into the Holy Spirit, though, is beautiful and invigorating.
As my squad continues to press in to what God has for us and for Nepal, please join me in prayer over the following:
Health (48 Jesus lovers living in a house together creates opportunity to share illness)
For us all to be continually filled by the Holy Spirit (seeking the Lord’s work in a foreign country is taxing)
Provision (I and many of my squadmates still need funds to be fully funded for the WR)
Rest (we walk A LOT!)
Thank you for your support of this missional life God has asked me to walk out this year. Thank you for your prayers, for your giving, and for your faith that God is good and has called me to this journey. I love you all so much!
