PVT was this week! For anyone who doesn’t know the acronym, PVT stands for Parent Vision Trip. It’s a week where our parents get to come out and spend time with us for a week, participate in ministry, eat local food, and bucket shower with us! It’s basically a small taste of what the World Race is like.
I am smack dab in the middle of a travel day right now and really want to write a blog that does PVT justice, so for now I’m going to write about my next country! Don’t worry, I’ll come back to the PVT blog!
I am going to South America to finish out my race! First stop is Bolivia. Here are 11 things I am excited/looking forward to during my time in the home of some pretty incredible things (highest city in the world, largest population butterflies, highest lake, and 40% of the world’s plant and animal life…to name a few).
1. SPANISH! I have been gimping my way through five Asian and two African languages these last 7 months and I am SO thrilled to enter the land of leche y miel. Praise the Lord, I’ll be in South America for 4 months and can finally put my 9ish years of Spanish classes to good use! Praying I leave Colombia in June as a fluent speaker!!!
2. I kind of want to be in a parade. I hear they happen a lot in the big cities!
3. Markets…I love getting souvenirs for my family and seeing what locals create!
4. LLAMAS!
5. Being on a new continent. I’ve been on three continents since last August (North America, Asia, Africa) and can’t wait to add this fourth. I’m so excited to see how the climate is different, what the vegetation and animals are like, and if there are any similarities to anywhere I’ve been so far. #geographyiscool
6. Alpaca poncho…need I say more?
7. Being in the same time zone as my family. For the very first time on the race, I will be in the same time zone as my whole family and all my friends. We will be able to communicate at such normal times. And none of us will have to wake up early or stay up late to talk, because our days will happen at the same time!!!
8. Outdoorsy things. Well…I’m hoping to be excited about these. I think Bolivia will be beautiful so even though I don’t really like hiking or being near bugs, I do like being outside!
9. {maybe} the San Pedro prison community. It’s a prison where inmates live with their families, have jobs, and tourists are allowed to visit to buy souvenirs and eat at restaurants. I’m so intrigued!
10. Basilica de San Francisco- a super old, super cool Catholic church in La Paz.
11. Culture…I don’t even know what I’m getting myself into, but I am so excited to experience everything. The food, language, music, art, people. Oh I just love new cultures!!!
Momma, Dad, Sue, Liam, Aussie, and Skout- I miss you guys but I am so excited I’m going to be only 3,763 miles away! Hug each other tight, and I’ll see you soo soon!
