Of course tomorrow will be a month since I’ve been committed to go on the race. This means that the first bunch of deadlines are quickly approaching, one of which is writing this…so here it goes.
Disclaimer: I was never a blogger (or great at grammar), but now for the next 2 years or so I guess I am.
First things first, what are my plans?! I will be partnering with Adventures in Mission (AIM) by embarking on a “World Race.” (If you’ve gotten my support letter sorry that this may be a bit repetitive…)
“The World Race is a stretching journey to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. This unique mission trip is a challenging adventure for young adults to abandon worldly possessions and a traditional lifestyle in exchange for an understanding that it’s not about you; it’s about the Kingdom.” Those are obviously not my words, but basically sums up what I will be apart of. I’m sure some of you still have questions, and right now so do I. But, this is where and how I feel God calling me to carry out the great commission. The main thing is to reach hearts with the seeds God will allow us to sow. There are a variety of ways we may do this, one of which that I am most excited about is working with children in orphanages around the world. We will be traveling within Serbia, Albania, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Laos, Thailand, Lesotho, South Africa, Madagascar, Dominican Republic, and Jamaica with a group of approximately 50, and then splitting up into smaller groups within the countries to work with local ministries. This list of countries is tentative to change as circumstances change, but we will continue to carry out AIM’s vision of deeply connecting to Jesus and His movement regardless of where we end up.
This is a really messy summary of what my team and I’s 11 months will look like. I’m trusting God knows what He’s doing even though in my human mind I’d prefer it if He’d tell me exactly what we are going to be doing each day in ministry so that I can “prepare.” For now, the best way that I can prepare right now is to find ministry partners that are willing to support me prayerfully and financially. And since you’ve read this far I have drafted you to be a prayer partner in my ministry!! Lucky you! I specifically need prayer for preparation even though I don’t know specifics. Also, if you’d prayerfully consider financially collaborating with me in this next step you can do so on my blog.
I have to wrap this up because I’m almost to my word limit, and I still want to share some lyrics that God has been using in my life! Sometimes I misinterpret songs, so I apologize to Britt Nicole if her song Pave is being misinterpreted. In Matthew 6:27-30 God tells us not to worry about anything, and basically shows us how ridiculous we are for not putting ALL our faith in Him. Throughout the Old Testament God paved the way for His people through angels, pillars of fire, pillars of clouds, and by His Shepherd’s Staff. These methods are only effective if you trust God, so I’m trusting God with my future.
“If you wanna jump
from the top of the waterfall,
Climb up the mountain
Just to hear the call,
Swinging through the jungle,
Running for tomorrow,
Anywhere you wanna go,
I can pave the road
for you”
